I can’t believe we are starting our 3rd week of this challenge. Time is FLYING by… and the entries so far have been fantastic! This is going to be another amazing design team.

This 3rd challenge comes from a few things we do each week here on the Urban Anthology Website. Weekly we post an inspirational sketch as well as we provide a word for inspiration on our site. This next challenge will showcase those ideas.

The challenge:

Create your own 12 x 12 sketch.

Then create a layout that is inspired by the sketch, as well as use ONE or more of the following words in the title.

* Direction

* Nurture

* Strength

* Time

The sketch can be hand-drawn and photographed or scanned, or of course designed in a program like Photoshop or Elements, etc (for sketch types and examples, see the sketches in our Design Team Sketch Gallery at UA).

Both the sketch and layout must be original work for this challenge.

The challenge is due by Midnight, Thursday October 8, 2009 in the Urban Anthology Got Talent Gallery.

Also, don’t forget to stop by this weekend, and vote for your favorite layout from Challenge 2.

The time is finally here to start our search for our next design team…

Join us in the first challenge for our Got Talent search… This challenge is due September 24, 2009 at Midnight in our gallery, if you wish to play along and have a chance to be voted as our top talent! Otherwise take your time and have it in the gallery by Midnight October 22, 2009.

Here are the details of the challenge:

1) Pick a sketch from the Urban Anthology Gallery… using this sketch create a ONE PAGE layout about you.

2) The layout must include the following:

a. Describe yourself as a scrapbooker

b. Shall demonstrate your scrapbooking style

c. Must include at least ONE PHOTO of YOURSELF

3) In the description of your image in the gallery, indicate what the signature aspects of your scrapping style are.

Post your creations in our gallery, and feel free to post a link in the comments of this blog post.

Welcome to the Urban Anthology Design Team Call…”Urban Anthology’s Got Talent!” We are sad to say good bye to our current design team, as they have been so inspirational and talented, and such wonderful ladies to work with. But it’s time to see some fresh new ideas. It’s time for you to dig deep into your stash, and deep into your skills and pull out all of those wonderful creations, tricks, and techniques you have been waiting for the “right time” to make.

I bet your wondering how you can be apart of our next design team…

There are two ways to play… its pretty simple… you can try your luck…or take it easy over the next 5 weeks and show us what you have got! Here is a look at the two options:

Option 1… try your luck…

Each week you must submit your work in the appropriate Urban Anthology Gallery folder by Midnight the Thursday after the assignment is posted. Starting the following Saturday the entries will be posted on the Urban Anthology blog for 5 days to be voted on by the members and visitors to UA blog… that’s right, get your friends, get your families, get your Facebook stalking buddies to come vote for you! At the end of the competition the person with the most points will win a position on our design team. The catch is you won’t know your score until you win!!! Oh the drama, but us girls love drama don’t we??? But remember, the person with the most points must have completed all 5 of the challenges by the final due date. (All challenges do not have to be voted on, however, challenges submitted after each weekly voting date, will not receive any points)

The points will be assigned as follows:

• 20 points for each of the first four challenges, and 40 points for challenge 5, for a total of 120 points possible.
• Points will be given based on rating earned from the online vote.
  • The top rating will get 20 points, the second top will get 19 points, 15th place 6 points and so on…
  • After the first 15 entries, every person after that will get 5 points regardless of rank.

Option 2… slow and steady…

Participate in all five challenges, and have them all completed by Midnight Thursday, October 22, 2009, with your work placed in the appropriate folders in the Urban Anthology Gallery. Three lucky participants will be selected based on the overall work completed over the 5 weeks of challenges.

The “portfolio” that you will have created over the 5 weeks should demonstrate the following:

Your unique style, that is well defined

How well your style works with our kits

Your ability to bring new ideas to the Urban Anthology Message Board and Blog

Your creativity

Your adaptability to a variety of challenges and activities

Are you ready to get started?

Do you have your scissors, paper trimmer, adhesives, chalks, inks, stickers, papers, flowers, embellishments, etc… ready to go? Well… it looks like you have to wait until 12:01 AM Friday, September 18^th, 2009 for your first challenge!

And remember, there will be a new challenge posted each Friday, for 5 weeks. All of the projects will be due Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 12 Midnight PST.

Please follow these directions CAREFULLY… those that do not follow them, will be automatically disqualified.

Qualifications:   

 1) Be a registered member of the Urban Anthology Forum.

2) Must have 30 or more quality posts (be actively involved on the board) by the submission deadline and introduce yourself in the welcome thread.

3) Must have 5 or more different items in the gallery (layouts, cards, altered projects)

4) Open to residents in the USA or Canada, 18 or older.

 Submit the following:

2) Layouts: (Please show us your BEST work, previously published or projects posted on other sites are welcome. Also please limit the width of the photo to 800 pixels or less)

          a.           THREE Layouts – 1 must be a 2 page layout

          b.           ONE Altered Project OR 2-3 Cards

3) Links:

          b.           Online Galleries (include your screen name please)

4) Bio – Tell us a few things:

          a. About yourself

          b. What type of photos do you scrap (children, family, pets, etc)

          c. Your scrapping style

          d. Why you feel you would make a great member of the Urban Anthology Design Team

          e. A short resume of your scrapbooking and/or paper crafting experiences. Please include any current or previous experience on design teams. Please note, previous experience is not necessary to be considered for the position.

 Design Team Requirements:   

 1) The Design Team Commitment is 6 months, with the rights of Urban Anthology to extend the term to 12 months. The term will run from September 1, 2008, until February 28, 2009.

2) Projects:

          a. Every other month, you will receive a kit and must make the following:

                    i. 3 layouts (either 1 two page layout, and a single page layout, or 3 single page layouts)

                    ii. One Altered Project, or Cards (2 to 3)

          b. Projects must be completed using 80% of the kit contents or store product.

          c. Projects must be submitted on or before the due date.

3) Forum Requirements:

          a. During the months you do not have a kit to create, you must post ONE online workshop doing any of the following:

                    i. How you created one of your kit layouts or projects

                    ii.  Describe how you used a technique on you layout

                    iii. Where & how you go your inspiration from your kit for a project

          b. You must be actively involved on the forum and gallery, including, but not limited to:

                    i.  Starting new topics

                    ii.  Posting questions and tips

                    iii. Responding to posts

                    iv. Leaving praise in the gallery and forum

                    v. Adding new layouts to the gallery (these must not be designs from other Design Teams, but can be posted in other galleries)

                    vi. Joining in and/or starting new games in the forum

          c. You will have to post a  scrapbook question of the week (one week per month, or less)

          d. You will also post a tip of the week (one week per month or less)

          e. You will be required to post a sketch of the week (one week per month or less)

          f. Assist in voting on layouts of other members for contests

4) Participation in online events, on Urban Anthology, or other Urban Anthology affiliated online events is required.

5) Participation in Design Team Discussions in the designated DT forum.

6) Promote Urban Anthology and its kits, and activities on your blog, and other sites and galleries where allowed.

7) You may submit your projects for publication, citing Urban Anthology as the location you obtained your materials.
