A Birthday Color Challenge

OK, ladies!!… Let’s go for a COLOR CHALLENGE this time!!…

The COLOR CHALLENGE I am presenting is one based on the colors associated with the ZODIAC SIGNS (Sun Signs) connected with the month of yours or others’ birthdays… (If you don’t know what the Zodiac sign is associated with your birthday or another person’s birthday, whomever you are doing a page on, you can check at the end of this post.)

The following list of Zodiac associated colors can be used as a guide for your COLOR CHALLENGE direction… (Source: Astrology of Dreams, Beth Koch)

ARIES – Reds, pinks, black, purple
TAURUS – Green, brown, tan
GEMINI – Yellows, orange, multi-colors
CANCER – Blues, greens, grays, tans, milky or cream colors, silver
LEO – Gold, orange, bright colors, royal colors
VIRGO – Green, gray, brown, yellow
LIBRA – Pinks, contrasting colors (black/white, bright/dark)
SCORPIO – Reds, black, purples
SAGITTARIUS – Gold, orange reds, bright colors, royal colors
CAPRICORN – Black, tan, gray, browns, deep colors
AQUARIUS – Electric colors, multi-colors, neons
PISCES – Pastels, blues, grays, greens

A few “challenge specific” guidelines…

1). Use one or more of the colors associated with the Zodiac sign on your page (tints, shades, neutrals, and achromatics are all OK additions)… And, all that you have to do is use Zodiac sign inspired colors, not Zodiac traits or information!

2). You DO NOT have to create a page with an explicit birthday party picture “thing” going on… All the page has to do is be thematically connected to a birthday reflection (yours or anothers’)… You have freedom to interpret!!

I have posted a page (below) that could be an example for this challenge, had I used “Cancer” colors… It has to do with my Best and Worst characteristics… This could also be done on someone else in your life…

I look forward to seeing how you use Zodiac Color on your challenge!!

Birthday Challenge #5 – Ad Challenge

Hello, Everyone! Jana here! Today I have an Ad Challenge for you as part of our Birthday Celebration here at Urban Anthology!

This is the Ad I used as inspiration for my page.

You can see that I used two photos side-by-side, just like the ad. In the ad there is type underneath those two pictures. I interpreted the type as strips of patterned paper to anchor my photo-grouping. Next I added the frame stamp image for my title, just like the word “Robitussin” has a frame around it. I also staggered the words in my title, just like the ad; only I staggered upwards instead of downwards. In the lower right corner of my layout, I placed a journaling tag where the box of Robitussin is in the ad, anchoring it with more paper strips (type).

Thanks so much for stopping by! I LOVE using ads as inspiration for my pages! Now let’s see what you do with this ad. :) Link us up with your creations in the comment box below. Have a great weekend!

Birthday challenge #4–altered item

Hey there everyone! For this week’s birthday celebration challenge, I’m going to challenge you to make your own birthday theme decor or altered item! I just love doing these because buying all that party paraphenalia can get SO expensive! And it’s more fun to make my own anyway, ya know?  So here’s what I came up with for today. I made a customized party had for my little girl using the May “Enchanted Afternoon” kit.party-hatdsc_2053
She really loves it and she’s worn it all over the house! (That’d be her singing “Happy Birthday”).

For this challenge, you can do any type of altered birthday item.  So that could be a birthday banner, a centerpiece, a party hat, or whatever else you may come up with! Just to give you a few more ideas, I made this birthday banner a while back. bdaybanner

And this little cupcake is some table decor.  I should spruce it up a bit with stickles and ribbons and other fun stuff. But I made it in like 5 min. with diecut cupcake shapes. Of course you could do whatever shape you wanted.  I plan to make several and use them as table decor.dsc_2067

Okay, so no excuses! you see how quick and easy this can be!! I can’t wait to see what you create, and don’t forget to link your creation back to the comments section of this blog post!  Now, go to it! :)

A Birthday Journaling Prompt Challenge

In keeping with our BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION challenges, I am challenging you to journal on a page around the theme, idea, word…

REFLECTION

Why “reflection”?… Because, we often find we reflect A LOT before, during and after our birthday, or the birthday of our loved ones!

 A few “challenge specific” guidelines…

1). You should have some version, somewhere, of the word on your page (reflect, reflection, reflective, reflector, etc… the dictionary has others that might be appropriate for your page).

2).  You can interpret “reflection” in whatever way you wish to (reflect on a special day, reflect on a special relationship, reflect on an event, reflect on what “reflection” means in your life, etc… BE CREATIVE!).

3). You DO NOT have to create a page with a birthday theme… All the page has to do is express your thought process in and around the idea/word “reflection”!… You have freedom to interpret!!

And, here is my interpretation of this challenge…
